A TWELVE-MEMBER Bahrain national endurance team will head for Doha today to take part in the 120-km Qatar Open Endurance Championship schedule for tomorrow at the Seleen Racecourse.
The Bahraini riders represent three stables - Royal Endurance Team, Ahmed Al Fateh and Al Asayel. The Royal Endurance Team riders are veteran Khalid Al Ruwaie, Mohammed Abdulaziz, Abdulsamad brothers Mohammed and Ahmed, Jaffer Mirza and Raed Mahmood.
Ghazi Al Dossary, Shaikh Saqer bin Khalid Al Khalifa and Ebrahim Al Jabouri will represent Ahmed Al Fateh Stable while the Al Asayel Stable comprises of Abdulaziz Khalifa, Abdulrahman Zayed and Rashid Sa'ad.
The team will compete in this annual event which is divided into five stages. The first two stages will be over 30 kms each, the third stage will be over 25 kms, the fourth over 20 kms and the fifth and final stage consist of 15 kms.
The delegation will be headed by Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) acting president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The team's participation in this event follows the directives from the Breef president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Other delegation members are team manager Dr Khalid Ahmed, administrators Yousef Taher, Hamid Salman, Bader Abdulrahman, Salem Al Otaibi, Tareq Ali and officials Abdulhaq Qadoori, Abdulrahman Abdullatif, Sumaya Ahmed and Ebrahim Al Muali.
It is Bahrain's second appearance in an international event this year after taking part in the second GCC Championship last month in Doha where Shaikh Salman bin Saqer Al Khalifa came second in the seniors section while Mohammed Abdulsamad took the junior section title.
