MUNICIPALITIES and Agriculture Minister Mansoor Bin Rajab officially opened a new BD77,000 pottery monument in a ceremony at A'ali's main roundabout. The opening ceremony was organised by the Central Municipal Council under Mr Bin Rajab's patronage. The minister said he was keen to showcase villages' and towns' traditional handicrafts and heritage, whether through erecting monuments or statues.
"A'ali is the first in the Central Governorate to have been selected for the monument privilege, since it has the oldest profession in the governorate and we hope others will follow soon," he said.
"Pottery is not just a pride for A'ali's residents, but for everyone in the country, and this why we wanted something to showcase it and the selection of a monument was a good idea."
Work on the monument took six months from the design stage to construction.
