A CONFERENCE that focuses on 20 years of archaeology in Bahrain is due to take place later this year.
It is being hosted by the Culture and National Heritage Sector from December 9 to 12 at Bahrain National Museum, Manama.
Called 20 Years of Bahrain Archaeology (1986-2006), it is taking place under the patronage of Crown Prince and BDF Commander-in-Chief Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and sponsored by Arcapita.
It will be the first opportunity since the 1983 conference Bahrain Through the Ages for scholars and experts to discuss and explore the most recent developments in the field of the archaeology and history of Bahrain.
International scholars, who have spent many years actively excavating and researching in Bahrain, will be taking part.
The conference will be conducted in English and Arabic, with translations provided throughout.
It will consist of a lectures and panel discussions by over 30 internationally renowned speakers and excavation site visits including a visit to World Heritage Site Qalat Al Bahrain (Bahrain Fort).
The conference is open to the public at a cost of BD200 for international delegates, BD100 for local delegates, BD100 for international students and BD50 for local students.
