BATELCO will sponsor the fourth edition of the Journalists Seven-A-Side Soccer Championship, scheduled for September 16 at the Batelco Staff Centre grounds in Al Hamala.

Six teams, representing different Arabic newspapers in Bahrain - Akhbar Al Khaleej, Al Ayam, Al Wasat, Al Watan, Al Waqt and Al Belad - are taking part in this event to be organised or the fourth consecutive time during Ramadan.

Al Wasat took the first championship in September, 2006, Bahrain News Agency won the second event last year in July while the third championship, which was also held last year in September, saw Al Ayam emerge winners.

The one-day tournament will also feature a penalty shoot-out competition for veteran journalists to be organised for the third time.

The first edition cup was won by Al Wasat's Abdulrasool Hussain while Jaffer Ali of Akhbar Al Khaleej came on top in last year's event.

Matches are set to kick off at 10pm and will be officiated by international referees from the Bahrain Football Association.

The draw putting is scheduled for tomorrow at Al Waqt Newspaper premises in Sanad.

This tournament is receiving full support from Batelco's human resources general manager Shaikh Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for the fourth consecutive time.
