 Bahrain eye podium slot 

BAHRAIN's Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa believes his team is capable of taking an impressive podium spot today in the challenging 160-km World Endurance Horseride Championship at the Terengganu International Endurance Park in Terengga, Kuala Lumpur.

Shaikh Nasser, the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation president, will lead a six-member team in this prestigious event which has attracted top riders from all over the world.

Other Bahrainis taking part in this night race are Breef vice-president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Yousif Taher, Ghazi Al Dossary, Raed Mahmood and Ahmed Abdulla.

The team is coached by Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa while Dr Khalid Hassan is the team manager. The Bahrainis will be among 140 riders, representing 34 countries from across the world, who are taking part in this event.

Meanwhile, the championship was inaugurated yesterday in a colourful opening ceremony held at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium and was attended by a capacity crowd of 60,000.
