MANAMA: Ministries, government departments and institutions will be closed from Sunday to Wednesday marking Eid Al Adha holidays. The four-day break includes Arafa Day on Sunday, Eid Al Adha which falls on Monday, plus two extra days.
MANAMA: The Central Bank of Bahrain yesterday reiterated that the country's financial system remained sound and its banks had sufficient capital. "We have not seen the need to take exceptional measures to support our banks, which remain liquid and well capitalised," Governor Rasheed Al Maraj said.
Athlete Kamel to quit
MANAMA: Kenya-born world indoor 800m bronze medallist Youssef Saad Kamel plans to give up his Bahraini passport and return to Kenya next year. The 25-year-old son of twice world 800m champion Billy Konchellah said there was a dispute over the contract he had signed when he agreed to become a citizen in 2003.
