Alba goes greener with $66m refit

MANAMA: Alba yesterday announced it had completed a $66 million (BD24.9m) project to make its power stations more environmentally friendly. Power general manager Mahmood Asghar said gas turbines had been retrofitted with new low Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) burners to reduce emissions, which were now better than those required by international standards.

"This project is one of the largest of its kind in Asia and the Middle East, following its implementation by a German company," he said.

"Alba has implemented this project as part of its long-term commitment towards the environment.

"It was implemented in phases by Alba's engineers and technicians with the co-operation of Alstom."
