Premier stresses need for economic analysis

Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday highlighted the vital need for publications specialising in economic analysis.

"Economic issues are everywhere due to the global financial crisis," the Premier said.

He was speaking as he received Aswaq business newspaper board members led by chairman Dr Abdulla Yusif Al Hawaj.

Vice-chairman Ali Mohammed Al Musallem and editor-in-chief Abbas Busafwan attended.

The Premier urged newspapers to develop beyond traditional patterns and engage in professional business analysis.

He also warned that inaccurate Press reports may have a detrimental impact on economic life.

"We would like the national Press to reflect the true economic situation and contribute to attracting investors and project a positive image of Bahrain," the Premier said. Bahrain's Press, he said, has the necessary ingredients to succeed in its mission. He also called on newspapers to highlight positive aspects and economic achievements.
