Menatelecom WiMAX network a big success

MANAMA: Bahrain-based Menatelecom has recently broadened its reach in the kingdom as it has witnessed great success with its subscriber base exceeding expectations since it was launched over five months ago.

Menatelecom is an investment subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House (Bahrain) and the first company in the world to launch a nationwide WiMAX 802.16e end-to-end network.

"We at Menatelecom are extremely pleased with the recorded success of our WiMAX service and we are making sure that the Kingdom remains a leader in new and innovative technology," said Menatelecom managing director and vice-chairman and KFH Bahrain executive manager Abdul Razak Jawahery.

"All the indicators point out to that direction, as the number of new customers is steadily growing, subscribers are expressing their high satisfaction and the general perception about Menatelecom and its services among the public ranks the company at the forefront of telecom providers in the Kingdom," he said.

"In response to this positive image, we will expand our retail network to include a new branch in Isa Town within a month, and another branch in Muharraq the following month," Mr Jawahery added.

"We at Menatelecom have been able to maintain and increase our growth expectations in terms of financial and operational parameters. This means that we remain on course to achieving our goal of being one of the top operators in the region. Our growth is fuelled by the success of our products and through our successful investment in new technologies.

"We are moving to expand our service portfolio steadily as we look to consolidate our market position and realise our long-term goals," he said.

"The ecosystem between operators, manufacturers and content providers is maturing. This means that we are seeing more innovations and services that are now available across different multiple access technologies. This is a new area of growth and the management and provision of value added services is a major opportunity for service providers in the broadband era" Mr Jawahery said.
