A SENIOR Bapco manager has been granted the most prestigious award available to a Toastmaster. General manager of maintenance Hussain Al Ansari was presented with the District Toastmaster of the Year Award during a conference in Abu Dhabi.

He received the award from immediate past district governor Philip D'Mello at the annual District 79 conference, which covers the GCC and Jordan.

The trophy is presented to one person for their contribution to the growth and development of the Toastmaster movement.

District 79 has 242 clubs and more than 8,000 members.

Mr Ansari is the founding president of the Bapco Toastmasters Club formed in 2007 to assist the development of employees' communication and leadership skills.

The award reflects his efforts in promoting the Toastmasters movement to ensure as many individuals as possible benefited from it, including helping to organise the District 79's annual conference in Bahrain last year.
