MANAMA: More than 400 students yesterday formed a human chain in honour of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

The "Khalifa" chain celebrated the Unesco-Avicenna Gold Medal which was awarded to the Premier in recognition of his efforts to promote education and culture and preserve human heritage.

Prince Khalifa attended the event at Seef and shook hands with students.

He praised Bahrainis of all age groups for their loyalty and allegiance to their country.

"The great honour which was bestowed upon the Kingdom of Bahrain is also an honour for all those who contributed to their country's development and progress," he said.

He described the Unesco award as reflecting Bahrain's outstanding reputation in the international arena.

He also paid tribute to the organising committee for holding the "Khalifa" human chain event which conveyed a message of love and allegiance, and vowed to continue the march towards more achievements for Bahrain.
