MANAMA: Bahrain-Qatar trade and economic ties were given a high-level boost yesterday.

His Majesty King Hamad held talks with Qatari Amir Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani at Gudaibiya Palace. Present were His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and his Qatari counterpart and Foreign Minister Shaikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabir Al Thani.

They also discussed latest developments in the region.

Both sides affirmed their keenness to further widen the horizon of bilateral relations and elevate them in all fields, especially trade, to achieve the interests of both countries and their peoples.

Talks also focused on means of activating joint GCC work. His Majesty hosted a banquet in honour of the Amir and his delegation.

The Amir later left Bahrain and was seen off by His Majesty in the presence of HRH the Premier, Ruling Family members, the Muharraq governor and envoys.

Earlier, the King received the Amir on his arrival in Bahrain.
