 Anniversary show delights crowds

THRISSUR Engineering College Alumni (TECA) - Bahrain Chapter's tenth anniversary celebrations began in style last night at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam Auditorium in Manama.

A donation of BD500 was made by TECA to New India Assurance Company's accident insurance coverage scheme.

The cheque was received by the Indian Embassy's first secretary Ajaykumar and will be used to help pay for the insurance premiums of 1,000 Indian workers in Bahrain.

Following the presentation, visitors were treated to an exceptional extravaganza of music and cultural programmes.

The show was led by South Indian playback singer Sheela Mani and also featured orchestral troupe Tanmatr, who performed a selection of Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi film songs.

Social organisations such as BKS, The Indian Club and professional associations like Kerala Engineering Association joined in the event by showcasing the skills of some of their members.

Bahrain Society of Engineers president Majeed Al Gassab meanwhile, took the opportunity to launch the new TECA website. More than 1,500 attended the event, as did Indian film and music director Mohan Sitara.
