Status Quo set to rock

CANADIAN pop-rock band Nickelback and British rockers Status Quo will perform at the Gulf Bike Festival at Dubai Festival City next year.

The three-day event will showcase different aspects of motorcycle culture and will take place on February 4, 5 and 6 next year.

Nickelback will perform on February 5, while Status Quo will take the stage on February 6.

Grammy award nominated Nickelback was formed in 1995 and are considered one of the most commercially successful Canadian musical acts.

Founded by members Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and former drummer Brandon Kroeger, the band has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Singles including Figured You Out, This is How You Remind Me, If Everyone Cared, Rockstar, Too Bad and Gotta Be Somebody have all featured on their albums Curb, The State, Silver Side Up, The Long Road, All the Right Reasons and Dark Horse.

Nickelback's current line-up features Daniel Adair on drums.

Meanwhile, boogie rock act Status Quo have been in the music industry from 1962 and have been through innumerable line-up changes without altering their signature sound.

The band holds the record of over 60 chart hits in the UK and 22 of these have reached the country's Top Ten list.

Some of their most famous and successful tracks include Pictures of Matchstick Men, Ice in the Sun, Down the Dustpipe, Down Down, Rockin All Over the World, Whatever you Want, the Wanderer, In the Army Now, Running All Over The World, When You Walk in the Room, Fun Fun Fun, All Around My Hat, Mony Mony and Beginning of The End. Status Quo's current line-up includes Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andy Bown, John Edwards and Matt Letley.
