MANAMA: Emerson Process Management Middle East is looking to further expand its operations across the region. The company, which specialises in industrial process controls, held a key planning seminar for 50 senior employees in Bahrain to run a strategic policy seminar to look at how it will take advantage of new opportunities springing up across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.
"We specialise in process controls for a number of industrial sectors, including the oil and petrochemical, power and water industries, and we are seeing a lot of new developments across the region at present which will see strong growth for our business in the near future," said Middle East and Africa president David Tredinnick.
"Our products become the eyes and ears for projects and we are very positive about expansion, particularly in the Middle East.
"Our unique products mean we work with all the major players in the oil and gas sectors and we see exciting opportunities as the industry expands," he said.
Mr Tredinnick was touring the region with Emerson Process Management president Steven Sonnenberg.
"Over the last 18 months we have hired about 150 more people and I would expect to add a further 210 over the next 12 months to meet demand," he said. "We have 580 employees in the region who can move to anywhere they are needed.
"We are seeing significant new projects in Abu Dhabi, both offshore and onshore, while there is a lot of refinery development going ahead in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait," he added.
Mr Sonnenberg said there were a lot of opportunities as oil producers look to add value to the oil and gas sectors and he saw very robust growth in the petrochemical sector.
"Power and water supply industries which are also expanding can greatly benefit from our unique systems.
"We are committed to the region and to adding to our resources here and hiring local people and to training them as future leaders for our business.
"We try to concentrate on local employment because we are looking for people in the long-term who are going to stay here and service our customers," he added.
