BAHRAIN is bracing itself for a fan frenzy as reality television superstar Kim Kardashian will visit the country for the first time this weekend. The socialite will officially open the new Millions of Milkshakes franchise at The Walk Bahrain in Riffa on Saturday, in association with Sevens Holding SPC.
Tickets went on sale yesterday for the exclusive launch ceremony, where fans will get the chance to meet the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star as she creates her signature milkshake.
Organisers have also launched an SMS challenge.
The winner will get a one-on-one time with the fashionista.
Ms Kardashian will fly in for the one-day visit after attending a similar launch party in Kuwait.
"I am so excited to be working with Millions of Milkshakes and Sevens Holding and I just cannot wait to introduce my very own signature shake to my fans in Bahrain," she said.
"I've heard so many great things about the kingdom and its famous hospitality.
"I'm thrilled to be meeting my fans in Bahrain."
She also posted a video online addressing her fans in Bahrain.
Fans visited The Walk Bahrain yesterday to book tickets, with some also calling in to ask about prices.
One Bahraini said she was excited to meet Ms Kardashian for the second time.
"I have come to check out the ticket prices and will definitely purchase them later," said Maryam Al Zeera.
"I met Kim Kardashian in Dubai and am really looking forward to meeting her again in Bahrain."
To take part in the SMS competition, text 'KIM' to Batelco 95332, VIVA 98038 or Zain 77021.
"We are receiving a great response for the SMS contest," said Mobile Information Services managing director Omran Khayami.
"The winner's name will be announced on Friday and will be randomly selected under the supervision of a special committee."
Meanwhile, Millions of Milkshakes founder Sheeraz Hasan expressed delight at opening the famous milkshake bar in Bahrain.
"I have come to love Bahrain and its people since my first introduction and I am absolutely certain that Kim will also fall in love with the land of smiles," he added.
Sevens Holding chief executive Amal Al Murbati was confident the venture would be a success in Bahrain.
According to online reports, one of the organisers of the trip, Paresh Shah, said Ms Kardshian was expected to meet local leaders in Bahrain, including "royalty and top entrepreneurs".
It came days after a Twitter controversy, where Ms Kardashian posted tweets regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.
She later deleted her comments and said she would "set the record straight" during her visits to the GCC.
Tickets will be available daily from 10am until 10pm at The Walk Bahrain until they are sold out.
Silver tickets are priced at BD50, where fans can attend the three-hour celebration and get the chance to see Ms Kardashian live, get souvenirs and gifts and enjoy performances by international artists and a DJ.
Gold tickets cost BD500 and holders will get up-close-and-personal with the star and pose for pictures.
They will also benefit from VIP Gold Parking, a special Gold Entrance and access to the Golden Circle.
Sources have confirmed that a small number of diamond passes were also issued for VIP fans, who can accompany Ms Kardashian from her arrival at Bahrain International Airport until the opening ceremony.
