BAHRAINIS and residents took to Twitter yesterday to complain about the "high price" of tickets to meet international celebrity Kim Kardashian.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star arrives in Bahrain on Saturday to officially open the new Millions of Milkshakes franchise at The Walk Bahrain, Riffa, in association with Sevens Holding SPC.
Many Bahrainis have welcomed the socialite's visit, while others complained about the price tag.
Silver tickets are priced at BD50, where fans can attend the three-hour celebration and get a chance to see Ms Kardashian live, get souvenirs and gifts and enjoy performances by international artists and a DJ.
Gold tickets cost BD500 and holders will get up close and personal with the star and pose for pictures.
Sources have confirmed that a small number of diamond passes were also issued for VIP fans, who can accompany Ms Kardashian from her arrival at Bahrain International Airport until the opening ceremony.
Tickets are available daily from 10am until 10pm at The Walk Bahrain until they are sold out. They are also available at Bahrain City Centre, Seef Mall and Bahrain International Airport.
Organisers said about 100 tickets have already been sold .
"I am annoyed by the thought that our society can be this shallow because Kim is coming to Bahrain. It proves that there are some of us who would pay that much for nothing, in comparison with what that money could bring," said university student Mahmood Zeyad.
"A total of BD500 can save lives," he added.
Famous Bahraini comedian and radio presenter Imran Al Aradi said the price of tickets was higher than the average salary of Bahrainis.
