BAHRAIN sports officials of the highest ranking hailed the success of the recently concluded 21st Gulf Cup, held over the past two weeks in Bahrain.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman and Gulf Cup Supreme Organising Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the Emirati team winning the title.Shaikh Nasser also congratulated the UAE vice-president Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on this achievement.
Shaikh Nasser praised Bahrain's outstanding organisation of the tournament at all levels, which, he said, ensured its success and reflected the kingdom's bright image.
On his part, Supreme Council first vice-chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad on this occasion.
Shaikh Khalid also congratulated the UAE national football team's title triumph. Shaikh Khalid lauded the distinguished performance of the UAE squad, wishing brotherly UAE further progress and prosperity.
He also hailed all the teams' commitment to sportsmanship and wished His Majesty the King continuous good health and happiness, and progress and prosperity for Bahrain and its people further under his wise leadership.
Supreme council secretary general and Gulf Cup Executive Committee president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa was also all praise for Bahrain and its leadership for the wonderful hosting of the event.
General Organisation for Youth and Sports president Hisham Al Jowder echoed Shaikh Salman's sentiments, and expressed pride on the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, in the tournament final.
Shaikh Salman and Al Jowder hailed the GCC citizens' advanced sports performance, fraternal competition and sportsmanship.
