BAHRAIN is hoping United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay will visit it soon to witness the country's progress first-hand.
An invitation was extended by Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa in 2012, according to Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr Salah Ali.
"We are eagerly waiting for her response," he said.
The minister said a technical committee from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) currently in Bahrain would submit their report to Ms Pillay, after which she was expected to visit the country.
The visiting delegation has so far met ministers, political societies, human rights groups and civil society organisations as part of its mandate to consult diverse groups.
Dr Ali said he would soon visit Geneva where he would speak to Ms Pillay regarding her Bahrain visit.
